Don't Feed the Birds, Keep Your Bling off the Beach!

You're on Spring Break in Panama City Beach and you wanna look your best, I totally understand that... but breakers please take my advice and don't bring bling to the beach!  Cute hoop earrings, that necklace that matches your suit perfectly, and those sweet sunglasses, all these things are great, but they're all easily lost in the sand and it may be hours before you even realize you've lost something! Items lost in the sand are what make Spring break a haven for metal detecting snowbirds!  So, what''s a snowbird?

Each year, during and after Spring Break, a curious creature locals call the "snowbird" will make its way out of the nest early in the morning to beaches where breakers spent the day before. These snowbirds are armed with metal detectors and are hunting for treasures - your lost treasures. Snowbirds flock to the beach every year for the winter months.  Their winter/early spring habitat is only minutes away from where the breakers play, in those condos that are NOT Spring Break Friendly. Though most snowbirds are kind by nature, many still seek the bling lost by breakers on the beach.  Snowbirds feed off of the beach hunting success stories from years past and the number of metal detecting snowbirds grows every year.  Now, after several successful spring breaks, it seems everyone and their brother has caught on to this thrilling beach morning activity of hunting for buried spring break treasure.  Don't feed the "birds" during Spring Break 2010, keep the bling off the beach and keep your treasures for yourself.
